There is still time to make a wish…and for your dreams to come true!

We are going to the moon that is not very far. Man has so much farther to go within himself. -Anais Nin

We are going to the moon that is not very far. Man has so much farther to go within himself. -Anais Nin

I had hoped to post this yesterday, but time and health did not permit. However I did make a significant breakthrough health wise- one that I’ve been waiting and wishing for for some time. I love that it happened on the first day of the new moon in Cancer, my birth sign.

I’ve been a fan of new moon wishing and Jan Spiller for many years, and thought I’d share some of what she offers with all of you.  This month’s New Moon occurs on Monday, the 8th at 2:15AM, EST.  The best times for wishing are within the 48-hour period following its occurrence.

For centuries farmers the world over have known to plant their crops by the cycles of the Moon. In America, farmers determine the best time to plant their crops by consulting the annual Farmer’s Almanac for the dates and phases of the Moon.

The Moon moves rapidly through the constellations of the zodiac, and aligns with the Sun (conjoins the Sun) approximately every twenty-nine and a half days. This is called the New Moon, and is the period of time when we cannot see the Moon in the night sky.

The New Moon promotes all forms of growth. Its potency takes hold AFTER the exact time of the conjunction and remains in force for the next 48 hours. For example, if you want your hair to grow more quickly and fully, have it cut right after the New Moon takes place. If you want your fingernails to grow long and strong, have manicures during the same time period.

This New Moon is in the sign of CANCER, and is a powerful time of the year for wishes involving your home, improving relationships with close family members, and gaining a greater sense of personal security in any area that is important to you: your job, relationships, health, money, romance. Things you may have wanted to happen in your life for a long time can begin easily manifesting through using the boost of the deeply emotional, heartfelt CANCER New Moon.  You can write your wishes in your journal, or on a piece of paper, even scrap paper will do. But do write them down- as this makes them more likely to manifest.

Anything initiated during the first 48 hours following the New Moon will be met with rapid growth: a business venture, a relationship, a creative project. The New Moon Power Period is fruitful for strong new beginnings.

The New Moon takes place this month on:

MONDAY  / JULY 8 / 3:14 am, EDST

CANCER – 16 degrees, 18 minutes

What to wish for:

In addition to on-going wishes in areas that are recurring for you, on this day wishes related to the sign of CANCER are especially potent:

  • Sample wishes:  “I want to easily find myself experiencing a reciprocal feeling of caring in my relationships with others”;
  • “I want to easily find myself empathically understanding others in a  way that is not threatening to me”;
  • “I want to feel a deep sense of belonging within myself in various life situations”;
  • “I want all feelings of insecurity easily lifted from me”; “I want the tendency to be ruled by my moods easily lifted from me”;
  • “I want to attract, recognize, and purchase the right home for me at a price I can easily afford”;
  • “I want to easily find myself saying the right words to my mother that create an experience of mutual respect, support, love, and understanding.”

For the complete “Rules of the Road” for wishing under the New Moon, and sample wishes demonstrating the most potent ways of wording your wishes, consult – New Moon Astrology – available in your local bookstore and by direct order via the above Link.

I’ll be posting an especially Engaging moon gazing “meditation” later this week.  Until then happy wishing and may all your good wishes and dreams come true!

With warmest Aloha,

Sabrina

An Unexpected Sensory Gift

Miro

“I try to apply colors like words that shape poems, like notes that shape music.” Joan Miro

While researching the neuroscience of color on health for Engaging The Senses, ( an uncommonly sensible guide to creating a beautiful life) , I came across this video “Synesthesia by Andrew McMahon” and thought it would be appropriate to include here.

According to a recent piece in Psychology Today by Maureen Seaberg, Singer-songwriter Andrew McMahon was in the hospital battling leukemia around 2005 when he first heard the word: synesthesia.
Another patient in the hospital had acquired the cross-sensory trait, as sometimes happens, during brain surgery to remove a malignant tumor. The young man could suddenly see color that wasn’t there before. He became an artist, sharing his visions with the public. Though Andrew lost track of his fellow patient, he never forgot him.
The former member of the bands Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate made a note in the journal he keeps full of his inspirations for future lyrics: synesthesia.
Blessedly, Andrew recovered and has been in remission for eight years. Not long ago, writing music to strike out as a solo act, he went into the studio with his producer to lay down the first tracks of what would become the EP “Pop Underground,” which he released in April. They were trying to come up with a compelling chorus when Andrew remembered the young man from the hospital and the note in his journal. Suddenly, the inspired lyrics came out:

And I see colors when I hear your voice

Put on your wings that put gravity on trial

And I see colors, I don’t hear the noise

Because we’re only flying for a while

Because we’re only flying for a while

It made the song soar and the piece would become the first release from the EP on June 13.

Apparently Synesthesia is seven times more common among artists, novelists and poets, and creative people in general, and according to neuroscientist,Dr. Vilayanur S. Ramachandran, “artists often have the ability to link unconnected domains,have the power of metaphor and the capability of blending realities.”

I believe we are all creative beings, so whether you think of yourself as an artist, or are interested in the art of living, I am wishing you an engagingly beautiful blend of all the best life has to offer.

Hope to ‘see’ and ‘hear’ from you again soon!

The Hidden Power of Color on your Senses…..

Wassily Kandinsky (Russian, 1866-1944). Blue Segment (Blaues Segment), 1921. Oil on canvas. 47 1/2 x 55 1/8 in. (120.6 x 140.1 cm). Solomon R. Guggenheim Founding Collection 49.1181. Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. © 2009 Artist Rights Society (ARS), New York/ADAGP, Paris

Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, and the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another, to cause vibrations in the soul. (Wassily Kandinsky)

Aloha,

If you’ve been following this blog for a bit you already know that I believe in the necessity and power of beauty in all its forms to positively affect our mental, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being.

According to the late, abstract expressionist,  Wassily Kandinsky, ” Color hides a power still unknown but real, which acts on every part of the human body.”

Given that each of the 6 senses is linked to a particular color and subtle energy center (chakra),

and in honor of the upcoming exhibition “Now Hear This” at the cool, bird’s nest of a contemporary art gallery, Spalding House, nestled high above hot and hectic Honolulu, I’ve been inspired to post some of my favorite paintings (and quotes) by a few of the featured artists over the next several weeks.

I really hope you enJoy them.  Feel free to let me know about your favorite paintings and the role color currently plays in your life!

Love,

Sabrina
